The Best Comfort Food Restaurants in Muskoka

Best Burgers @ Webers, Orillia

Despite the fact that Webers isn’t really in Muskoka, its location on Hwy 11 between the towns of Gravenhurst and Orillia has led to this burger joint becoming something of a tradition for cottagers heading north from the city of Toronto.

Stopping so the kids can grab some Weber’s burgers has been a Muskoka institution since this iconic comfort food provider in 1963, For many, the famous Webers sign signifies the start of their cottage vacation and the beginning of many wonderful memories. It’s where one can take a well-earned break from all that traffic and realize that, yes, you’re actually in cottage country now.

The food at Webers is certainly old school. Nostalgic and delicious, your choices are limited, but that’s the whole point. And their famous hamburgers, friends, and milkshakes are all made fresh to order.

Webers is extremely busy in the summer months, so be prepared to wait in line before you’re able to enjoy their delicious creations. But hey, you already knew that, didn’t you? Webers is open all year round with some months having more limited opening hours.

Choice Chicken Wings @ Cast Iron Restaurant, Baysville

If you’re searching for authentic pub-style comfort food, the Cast Iron Restaurant in Baysville may be just the ticket. This popular Lake of Bays restaurant features a variety of tasty menu items. You can’t go wrong with the restaurant’s delicious chicken wings which feature an assortment of wing sauces such as mild, medium, honey garlic, lemon pepper, and dry Cajun.

Be sure to order a side of their tasty poutine. Made with fresh-cut fries, real cheese curds, and homemade gravy, it firmly places Cast Iron on our list of the best comfort food restaurants in Muskoka.

Delicious Duck Wings @ Sawdust City Brewing, Gravenhurst

Not only is Gravenhurst’s Sawdust City Brewing renowned for its exceptional craft brews, but it’s also recently been making a name for itself in the comfort food department. A star on their ever-evolving menu is a dish that offers both comfort and satisfaction: duck wings.

Smothered in a tomato-based house wing sauce and accompanied by a dash of ranch dressing to balance out the savoury flavours, your tastebuds will thank you. Add to this a side of great fries or poutine and, of course, a pint or two of their award-winning brews, and you’ll be ready for anything.

Pulled Chicken Flatbread @ Huntsville Brewhouse

Part of the Lake of Bays Brewing Co, the Huntsville Brewhouse has been one of the top comfort food restaurants since it opened in 2018. Ever since this first-rate Muskoka brewpub has been serving up great menu staples including burgers, sandwiches, and, of course, beer.

You can even pair your favourite Lake of Bays brew with a range of tempting options, including our favourite, the mouth-watering pulled chicken flatbread. Other great choices include the always-yummy “Brewhouse Burger”, and for vegetarians and vegans, dishes like grilled stuffed portobello mushrooms, a bean burger made with quinoa and a six-bean blend, and the BBQ pulled jackfruit tacos with pineapple salsa. They even offer a decadent Vegan Brownie… and great beer.
